SPOKANE, WA – Northwest Fair Housing Alliance (NWFHA) will receive a $99,197 Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) Education and Outreach (EOI) grant from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).
EOI funding in 2010 will allow NWFHA to expand its services in Eastern and Central Washington, focusing on regions with high rates of loan denials, subprime lending, and foreclosures, especially communities with limited English proficiency.
Specific activities include organizing a coordinating and planning a meeting with regional organizations, compiling and publishing a list of area HUD housing counseling resources and financial literacy classes, disseminating information about fair lending and referral resources, developing a community awareness fair lending workshop curriculum in English and Spanish, presenting 8 community awareness workshops in 5 cities with large Hispanic populations, and making referals to HUD certified housing counselors and HUD FHEO.
NWFHA has also received the third year of funding under a 3-year performance based FHIP Private Enforcement Initiative (PEI) grant. |
